- (2004) Management of Martello Tower – Ongoing management of this declared National Monument, under the direct operation of Friends of the Environment since the creation of the museum, with a management committee of all the stakeholders.
- (2004) Maroon slave Archaeological investigation project was started in June 2002 and completed in February 2004. Some 100 of the 250 caves inventoried on the island of Mauritius were surveyed archaeologically for remains of maroon slaves. The historical record of marronage was investigated. + Clean-up of Ile de la Passe was conducted by volunteers under the NHF during the architectural survey.
- (2004) Clean-up of Ile au Phare was conducted by some NHF members, in collaboration with the US Embassy and other partners.
- (Dec 2003) Changes to legislation – The National Heritage Trust Fund Act 1997 and the National Monuments Act 1985 were amalgamated and modernized to become the National heritage Act 2003, which was passed by the Legislative Assembly in December 2003
- (2003) Establishment of Tentative Heritage Site List with UNESCO experts.
- (2003) Millennium monument – Contributions were made by the NHF on the use and management of this monument, to the Ministry of Arts & Culture.
- (2003) Inventory of Historic Fortifications was presented to the NHF, comprising some 60 declared and non-declared sites, all with heritage value. Recommendations for their management were presented.
- (2003) Preliminary inventory of Sugar Chimneys was conducted and some 75 chimneys on the listing illustrate the contribution of the sugar industry and its stake holders in the Heritage of Mauritius.
- (2003) Structural survey of six buildings on Ile de la Passe was conducted with the aim of retarding the degradation and eventually restoring the important heritage buildings on the islet.
- (2003) Topological Survey of Ile de la Passe – A complete topographic survey of the islet was carried out and was funded from the grant of the US Embassy.

- (2002) Historical study of Ile de la Passe was contracted by Dr. Marina carter to provide historical basis for the management of the islet.
- (2002) Inventory of sites and structures and “lieu de memoire” associated with Indenture, in Mauritius, was conducted by an international consultant. The study was done in collaboration with staff of the MGI, through the NHTF Board.
- (2002) Listing of caves by Mins of Environment consultants was appraised for cultural significance and the project was taken up by the MSAIP team in the subsequent study on maroon slaves’ refuges.
- (Dec 2001) Old prison building, Port Louis, was evaluated in December 2001 and the report was considered by the Mins of Arts and Culture for application in the development of this site.
- (2001) Inventory of Sites and Structures and “lieu de Memoire” associated with slavery and maroonage, in Mauritius, was conducted by a consultant from the University of Mauritius. The study was done in collaboration with the Nelson Mandela Centre for African Culture.
- (2001) Archaeological and Architectural Survey of Ile de la Passe was undertaken by Dr. Geoffrey & Mrs. Francoise Summers, which was financed from a grant received from the US Embassy and contributed to the long-term management of the islet.
- (Sep 2000) Listing of heritage buildings in Port Louis was made public in September 200 at a press conference with the Minister of Arts and culture.
- (2000 – 2004) Vieux Grand Port Archaeological project by the Dutch team under Drs Pieter Floore and Jayasena Ranjith under the Mauritius Museums Council had the collaboration of the NHF and its members and staff, mostly in field work.
